Returning to the stories of love and affection, Joana Providência now seeks to reflect on what unites and builds a family. The show Families Imaginárias seeks to develop, throughout 2020/2021, a work of proximity with a group of families from the Porto community, exploring the ties that unite them, but also creating new relationships of closeness and care. A family is built with different ties and knots, which intertwine in different ways, producing fabrics of all colors and shapes. Imaginary Families will allow you not only to look at already established families, but also to create new ones: you can look for a borrowed grandmother in the group or try out siblings on stage. Uncles, fathers, mothers, grandparents, cousins, etc.: all the bonds we can imagine can be invented in this project.
For Imaginary Families, Joana Providência also invited families that include performing arts professionals, and who will work in continuity with the community, weaving together the web of stories and memories that will result in this show, interpreted and lived by all as a strange family invented during the process.
