We can read, right on the first page of 'The Man Who Planted Trees', by Jean Giono, that in order to meet an exceptional person it is necessary to observe them for many years. If we watched the protagonist of history for decades - and other planters in Brazil, India, etc. - we would see how, over the slow years, they leave forests built acorn by acorn, shoot by shoot. As we look at the landscape, we see its enormous life project, made up of small, generous and patient gestures, which wait years to know its wonderful result.
When looking at the trail that we leave in our day-to-day life, made up of small careless and careless gestures, we see a sea of plastic, disappeared species, deforestation and climate change.
We urgently need to look at the impact of our actions not only today, but yesterday and tomorrow in our lives.
